Discover our guided kayak tour for birdwatching and flora recognition in the Cutipay Wetland Nature Sanctuary. Resident and migratory birds coexist here throughout the year, creating a spectacle of life and color. Navigating the tranquil waters of the river, you can observe species of the evergreen forest such as foye, notro, pelu, triwe, arrayán, coigües, and various types of ferns. Regarding fauna, you will encounter different bird species like herons, cormorants, ducks, grebes, kingfishers, the Chilean river otter (huillín), coypu... Many other species await you to discover for yourself the biodiversity that makes this place a sanctuary that we all must protect. Languages: Spanish, English

Itinerary

  1. Canelo Route

    The 12km round trip Canelo Route takes 7 hours. We begin by kayaking from the mouth of the Cutipay River to its source. This river originates from two streams, and we will navigate one of them, the Pichauka stream. During the navigation, we will identify and recognize various bird and flora species. Once at the stream, we will stop for a meal and explore a native Valdivian forest trail, which is surrounded by a 'hualve' type ecosystem.

Desde Valdivia, debes tomar la micro expreso de la costa o la micro 20 (naranja) que dice niebla y bajarte justo en el paradero del puente Cutipay.
